I'm just beginning to recover from this weekend's disc-dog action, just a great time for Frisbee doggers who made the trip to Lakeland, Florida, it was well worth it! It was a great weekend of disc dog action, with the 2007 Central Florida Flying Disc Challenge kickin' it off on Saturday. The weather started out warm, but overcast enough to keep the heat down for a little while for the 70 teams that competed .
The Open division freestyle was first, with some great freestyle routines by several teams. The deciding factor always seems to be our "Challenge" Accuracy round, with only one team scoring double -digits in that division. We used the "Pam Plan" to expedite the tournament, alternating with the Open division freestylers. After we finished Open and novice divisions, Intermediate Freestyle took over. We saw some new faces trying out Freestyle and some familiar faces competing too.
After the Intermediate Freestyle, it was time for the real "Challenge", the advanced division Accuracy qualifying round. 29 teams competed to advance to the finals, with the cut set to the upper -half of those competitors. Half of them made it, and played in the Advanced Throw & Catch finals. Round two finished up where we left off with the Novice division.
Open division Accuracy was next, with what was probably the most entertaining round of Accuracy yet by Colleen Hegyi and her Aussie, Haze (ask Colleen the next time you see her), six minutes later, we resumed the competition with the next team.After Open division Accuracy was done, we followed it up with the Intermediate Accuracy. We then finished up with the Advanced division Finals and the top 15 teams that made the cut, and when the smoke cleared, the top teams on the scoreboard looked something like this:

It was a great weekend for disc-dogging all -around, with everyone having a great time! A huge THANK - YOU to the event staff and all of our CFDDC volunteers who helped to make this event happen, we couldn't do it with out you!
